Description

We are in the historic center of Guatemala City, surrounded by shops and attractions of all types. We are 0.3 miles (500 meters) from the central park, the national palace, and the central market; nearby you can also find the major museums such as the archeology, the indigenous dress, and modern art museums, as well as churches and the largest centers for Christian worship in Central America.

In Guatemala City, the different architectural movements reunite to form a magnificent repertoire of commercial buildings and homes.

Very close by is the colonial city of Antigua, just 31 miles (50 kilometers) from downtown, and the active Pacaya Volcano at 18 miles (30 kilometers). Also, in walking distance of the hotel are the bus terminals that travel to Tikal, Peten, Livingston, Copán, and Cobán.

Hotel Ajau is committed to preserving its charming setting and supports various projects to maintain and restore sites in the city's historic center. Priority projects include improvements in safety and promotion.

Business policies include the proper use of all supplies and raising awareness among our guests about water and electricity conservation during their stay. Guests are asked to place plastic bottles (for water, soft drinks, juice, etc.) in the bins located in the public areas; we collect and send them to Fundacion Pura Vida, where local students fill the bottles with plastic bags, which are then used to build community halls in towns around Lake Atitlan. Soon, they will also be used to in buildings in Guatemala City.
