Description

We are located between the Andes and the Amazon, in Ecuador's Napo province. The valley is surrounded by three national parks that protect 14 forest and wildlife areas. The region is considered a hotspot or refuge for a large concentration of biodiversity in Ecuador. There is amazing natural scenery, with areas to enjoy a wide variety of outdoor activities from canopy and other sports to exotic bird watching. The region has an enormous variety of waterfalls, including San Rafael, the largest and most spectacular waterfall in the country.

La Campiña del Quijos is a conservation project that offers the chance to enjoy an alternative natural destination with the comfort and hospitality of a first-class establishment.

We are pioneering conservation and sustainable tourism. Some of our efforts include:

  • Restoring lands destroyed by livestock.
  • Actively performing scientific social and environmental research.
  • Developing small technical validation projects and alternative technologies to preserve natural resources.
  • Starting to develop long-term development efforts to reforest critical areas.
  • Spreading the word regarding the ecological value of the region.
  • Building ties with the community and encouraging local business. All of our staff is local and we hire people from the rural area and local groups to provide tourist services like horseback riding, rafting, and other activities.
  • Since 2008, the Campiña de Quijos and Rainforest Alliance have formed a partnership to implement Best Management Practices for sustainable tourism.
