Description

La Granadilla agricultural cooperative offers services for tourists interested in learning about and experiencing the routine of daily farm life. Tourists are welcomed at the beautiful community house of La Granadilla - a well-maintained building that has three shared rooms available, a dining area, a main hall, and a small community library.

We offer trails to the fields and homes of local families. It is also possible to rent bicycles and ride in oxcarts.

The main natural attractions nearby are Mombacho Volcano, Zapatera Island, the Apoyo Lagoon, Lagunas de Mecatepe Nature Reserve, and Masaya Volcano. The most popular destinations near La Granadilla are the city of Granada, Cocibolca Lake, the "White" Towns (so-called for the whitewashed adobe houses whose residents make Nicaragua's famous pottery), the Catarina lookout, the city of Masaya, and more.

Getting There

Nearest international airport: Managua (MGA)

Distance, by land, to the nearest airport: 58 kilometers.

At Km 60.5 on the Granada-Nandaime highway, take the dirt road to the left (if you are coming from Granada). Go 1.5 kilometers down this road until you come to another dirt road on the left with a yellow sign high up in a fig tree indicating the entrance to Casa Comunal. Turn left here and go one kilometer to La Granadilla.
