The Savegre Mountain Hotel, in San Gerardo de Dota, is the perfect place to enjoy the splendor of the cloud forest. At Savegre Mountain Hotel, we are committed to preserving the environment and supporting the socio-economic development of the San Gerardo de Dota community. We strive to make our activities as environmentally-friendly as possible, and we actively participate in community projects.

Some of our efforts include:

  • The toilets are graded in order to use the least amount of water with every flush.
  • We use biodegradable cleaning products, low-energy light bulbs, and we take advantage of solar energy to heat our water.
  • We maintain a private reserve of 988 acres (400 hectares).
  • We sponsor and participate in conservation associations and groups.
  • We collaborate with the Los Quetzales National Park.
  • We manage reforestation programs and regeneration in areas that were formerly used for agriculture or livestock.
  • We categorize waste and send it to recycling centers.
  • We use Oxo-biodegradable bags to collect garbage.
  • We use organic waste to make the fertilizer used in our gardens.
  • Sewage and other wastewaters are passed through septic tanks treated with biological agents that help to decompose material.
  • We earned four leaves from the Certification for Sustainable Tourism (CST) program.
