Description

Hotel Sugar Beach remains secluded on the unspoiled Playa Pan de Azúcar in northern Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Just meters from the beach, our rooms are spread over 24 acres (10 hectares) of jungle shared with monkeys, coatis, and iguanas!

Our guests can relax by sitting by the pool and enjoying the rhythm of the surf. For those looking for adventure, ride the waves on a boogie board, visit an area zip line, or tour Potrero on horseback. Hotel Sugar Beach offers a tranquil place for travelers seeking nature and ocean-side lodging. Enjoy delicious food and a beautiful ocean view from our open-air bar and restaurant, a great place to observe nature and evening sunsets. Our chefs prepare wonderful nightly specials highlighting both international and local Costa Rican dishes.

You will find both opportunities to rest and to explore at Hotel Sugar Beach. Our intimate and hospitable hotel provides the perfect getaway for couples, families, or the individual traveler.

Making a Difference

Number of employees: 25 - 32

Percentage of local employees: 100%

The hotel supports activities that serve as the basis for a larger, long-term benefit to the community. One recent project promoted local culture and traditions by producing a book of photographs and writing by Guanacaste poets, biologists, linguists, and musicians. The book promotes Guanacaste while giving the artists exposure to local and global communities. Fifty percent of the printed copies were donated to Asociación Cultura, Educación, y Psicología de la Infancia y la Adolescencia (CEPIA), an organization that provides educational and social support to women and children in the area. With the book sales, CEPIA will earn $13,000 for operational costs. The book will be recognized as a cultural institution by the Ministry of Culture, and images from the book will be used by the Costa Rica Tourism Board to promote tourism to audiences outside of Costa Rica. This is one example of our desire to give local and wider communities our support.

On a daily basis, our guests are also invited to donate 1% of their room revenue to local and global funds that support education, community, and the environment.
