Description

There is a 200-acre (81-hectare) turtle sanctuary on site, of which 85% is in private reserve; a 3-acre (1.2 hectares) organic farm; an archeological site; one mile (1.3 kilometers) of beach front; an estuary; and mangroves. The area is great for bird watching and hikes into the mountains.

Playa Viva directly supports the local community and environment either through raising funds or through direct donations. Community activities include, but are not limited to:

Supporting local businesses including an artisanal salt co-op.

Local conservation activities including managing an on-site turtle sanctuary.
Promoting food security by promoting local organic farmers and food co-ops.
Supporting courses in organic agriculture.
Promoting health and safety through garbage management and recycling programs and education.

Rates

$150 and up

Playa Viva rates are $195 and up for 2 guests, all-inclusive.

Lower cost options are available for volunteers camping in the turtle sanctuary. A meal plan is available for day guests and campers.

Getting There

Nearest international airport: Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo (ZIH)

Travel time to nearest airport: 30 minutes

Visitors must ford a stream to enter the property; however, the stream is usually passable without the use of 4-wheel drive vehicle. Heavy rains during the rainy season can make the stream un-passable a few days per year.
