We support all hotel staff, encouraging the early schooling of their children and paying education costs that they are unable to cover.

We carry out social work in collaboration with the Sonzapote community, located on Zapatera Island in Lake Cocibolca. Its inhabitants are mainly people displaced from the northern part of the country that only have access to primary school. At Patio del Malinche, we support this community with the following:

• Offering some scholarships that help students study at the high school in Granada by covering their room and board costs.
• Taking care of logistics when the students are in the city - we contact the houses that lodge the students, we organize their stay, we enroll them in school, we assist in the selection of the most appropriate schools, and if necessary, we offer lodging to some students; we also provide them with Internet access, school supplies, and more.
• Helping the women's group market their crafts; sales of these crafts also benefit the Zapatera community health fund.
• Supporting a new community tourism project with publicity, advising, and connecting our hotel clients with the Sonzapote community.
