IMPORTANT NOTICE: We are conducting a rigorous review of all of the businesses included in our database to confirm and update their certification or verification status and expect this work to be completed by January 2014. As a result, the sustainability performance and verification dates of Rainforest Alliance Verified hotels and tour operators may not be displayed on their business profiles.
SustainableTrip.org aims to provide travelers, tour operators, and travel agents with a comprehensive, credible listing of tourism businesses that are located in beautiful, biologically rich places, which also make efforts to benefit the surrounding communities, plants and animals.
Our database includes accommodation businesses, tour operators, and other tourism-related businesses in Latin America and the Caribbean with verification for the sustainable tourism practices from the Rainforest Alliance, or businesses that have certification from a third party sustainable tourism program duly recognized by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). In exceptional* cases, businesses with recommendations from a reputable organization can be included.
The certification, verification, or recommendation for a business is confirmed by SustainableTrip.org staff before the business is added to our database. The information featured in each business profile is submitted directly by the owners or managers of the businesses and it is updated once a year.
*Note: Recommendations are only accepted in countries where Rainforest Alliance verification services are not in operation and for small-scale rural community tourism enterprises.
